This morning I feel somewhat sobered.  My wife came to me and said, “I feel like I’m mourning.”  I asked her why and she explained that this economic crisis and the condition of our nation make her feel like someone great has died.  She is very concerned about what will happen next and as to what our children will be facing.

I, too, feel this burden.  It seems that we have made the full transition from the world superpower to the world’s super-farce.  I indeed hope that this is temporary, but the only way that it can be temporary is if we make some changes. Read the rest of this entry »

:( Well sure, doesn’t this happen all the time? Read on and let your malcontent with our current medical situation rise:

Researchers at the University of Alberta believe DCA is the cure for cancer. But big pharmaceutical companies aren’t interested because DCA is not patentable, meaning there is no money to be made, so they will not spend millions for clinical trials.

A couple links for DCA:

I just heard a story about a dear little girl who is in the final thralls of cancer and it renewed my angst and made my blood boil even more so than usual towards medical research governors. Too much pain has this illness cost our human family. Too much profit does it yield for the medical “industry.” Read the rest of this entry »

Forgot to mention this a week or so ago. Of course this is something that has been demonstrated before and claimed long ago (over 25 years ago) by Linus Pauling. I’m glad to see that folks in the medical community are starting to take hold of old ideas that seem to have worked for others. I’m trying to remain somewhat positive rather than cynical of the medical racketeering industry.

In what I’ve been hoping to see for all of my life (since my grandmother and grandfather passed away when I was still just a baby) it finally appears that the medical community is acknowledging one potential cure for cancer. It’s something I’ve read about in the past regarding boosting the human immune system and is something that goes along with what my D.O. grandfather had always said, “Our bodies have everything they need within themselves to cure themselves. We just have to give our bodies what they need in order to heal themselves.”

Disenfranchisement with the medical industry (read: pharmaceuticals and insurance companies) is the reason that I decided to move away from medical school and fully into computer science and then of course operating my own business. I have always wanted to help people, but it is really impossible to help people as fully as would might desire in our healthcare environment today. I feel that I can do much more service to humanity and the world through innovation and utilizing my creativity, as that is one of my true gifts.

It appears that we need to be more cautious and prudent in our consumption of antioxidant supplements. It would seem that perhaps consuming these antioxidants as a long-term health plan or consuming healthy foods rich in antioxidants throughout the course of your life is the best plan of action.

Here is the article in which this information was recently revealed.

It also certainly strengthens the Lord’s recommended law of health as set forth in the Word of Wisdom. I am ever increasingly more grateful for the revealed truth that our Father in Heaven offers to us as we seek to receive it. He gives us knowledge based upon readiness, willingness to work for it and sometimes simply when we ask the right questions (which is often a manifestation of readiness).

Key takeaways from the article:

It is plausible that cancer cells are at increased risk of damage from oxidative stress compared to your normal, healthy cells. In other words, taking antioxidants might ironically be protecting your cancer cells, allowing them to survive more than anything else.

It is likely that because cancer develops from long term damage to your cells, as in the case of skin and lung cancer, that trying to limit damage for a relatively short period of time by taking antioxidants like vitamin E or vitamin A probably has little or no effect. It is analogous to a car that is already rusted when you apply a protective sealant to it. The damage has already been done. Just as the sealant is protecting the already rusted car, the antioxidant is protecting the already cancerous cells.

Here are some recommendations that have stood the test of time and clinical study in preventing cancer:
• Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables every day (in contrast to supplements).
• Limit your intake of simple sugary carbohydrates such as white bread, chips, etc.
• Exercise every day and keep your weight down.
• Protect yourself from the sun with broad spectrum sunscreens and protective clothing.
• If you decide to take a daily supplement, the only vitamin that I recommend taking everyday is vitamin D. There is good evidence that vitamin D supplements can be protective against certain cancers. Taking 1,000 mg of vitamin D3 a day is the best way (much better than sun exposure) for elevating your vitamin D levels. More on this in a later post.

Interesting. While digging about for some specialized surveillance software for a client, I stumbled across a link to this on digg.com that does indeed demonstrate *WHY* static electricity and gasoline can be a bad thing…

With the announcement of the production of a beating heart (from an animal sample) we are certainly worlds closer to the vision that many of us have of reproducing our own organs or replacement organs for others in vital need.  For example, I have a dear friend with hemophilia that is essentially in perpetual misery and jeopardy of death that really needs a new liver in order to enjoy a more natural life.

He cannot even sign up for a transplant unless he is considered dying (I really don’t understand what qualifies for dying if his condition does not) and thus has very little hope of any sort of recovery.  Currently the government pays well over $1 million for his factor medicine a year and he is unable to ever receive a regular job (must make under $5 per hour the rest of his life in order to qualify for government health insurance and he cannot live otherwise as no insurance company appears to be willing to cover him with his condition).

We have a much more serious problem in our nation with health insurance, I believe, than 95% of Americans really understand.

This development could not only make his life livable but also very much assist the massive drain of money in our nation that happens for so many in his situation.

What an amazing article. We certainly need to see this move forward quickly. I know a fellow at this very moment on a waiting list for a heart transplant and I’d love to see him receive such a wonderful gift. Still quite a ways off it seems as it has not been moved to humans quite yet, but exciting nonetheless:

Summary:
… Professor Doris Taylor, director of the university’s centre for cardiovascular repair, believes it could be a significant step towards creating custom-built hearts, blood vessels and other organs for people with serious illness.

“The idea would be to develop transplantable blood vessels or whole organs that are made from your own cells,” Taylor said. “It opens a door to the notion that you can make any organ - kidney, liver or pancreas. You name it and we hope we can make it.”

The new technique was reported at the American Heart Association’s recent annual meeting in Orlando, Florida. “This is a proof of concept,” Taylor said. “Going forward, our goal is to use a patient’s stem cells to build a new heart.”

I’m quite intrigued by this Orexin A study that has been released. How wonderful it would be to have something that promises it’s benefits without serious negative side effects if used with prudence. That would be wonderful to shave the edge off of a night’s rest or become more alert when arising in the morning. It even appears that you can purchase this in some form or another from googling around.

Can anyone with more background in this arena shed some light or insights on this?

And a more pointed, question, what can we consume in terms of nutrients in order to stimulate abundant production of Orexin A within our own bodies? There must be some method for helping the production of this peptide along within ourselves.

Some references to this:

WARNING: I just did find some other things that disturb me of the usage of Orexin as a stimulant until we have better control over biological processes such as cancer. It appears that there could be adverse affects for those with cancer who may use Orexin and consequently if someone does not know that they have cancer and start utilizing Orexin for stimulation it seems that they may be able to “overdrive” the cancer cells into a higher production state, thus worsening this person’s condition. Any thoughts, further observations or deeper understandings of this article?

I have a close friend that has lived with hemophilia for his entire life and it is such a difficult illness. I certainly hope that more can be done to cure this as well as alleviate the ensuing difficulties. I just wanted to share some news links for this friend and when he gets his website up I’ll link on into it.
