Just found out some interesting things this morning that really piqued my interest. My wife has been studying medical transcription (MT) for the past year and was close to graduation. Today she began to make some phone calls in order to inquire of job positions and received a very grim outlook: MT companies are out of work due to the new EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems that Obama has put in place through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The companies with whom she spoke are saying that things are looking bleak and that due to the EMR push, things are not looking good for MT job hunters or for the work force for that matter.
I’ll post more on this as we learn more, but I’m curious, what have you learned?
