I am so disappointed in our current state of technology. I have fought with a security and phone system for a few months between tasks and it really disgusts me to see the way hardware and software developers are completely ignoring common sense.
Apple tries to solve much of this problem with Bonjour (mdns) but MAN what a wonderful world we’d live in if everyone would simply implement a very nonchatty mdns client and server in all hardware and software platforms and a basic set of detection routines that would build a table for configuration if so desired.
Anyway, without getting into any details, there are ways that we could make our world such a better place. Once some of my current business ventures reach fruition I really am going to make a change in the current paradigms. Bleh.
